The Science of Eye Care

The Bachelor of Science in Optometry is a specialized undergraduate program offered under IKG Punjab Technical University norms. It is aimed at developing skilled eye-care professionals who play a crucial role in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of vision disorders.

This program provides comprehensive knowledge of ocular anatomy, optics, refraction, contact lens technology, and clinical ophthalmology. Freshers enter into a 4-year curriculum that includes a one-year clinical internship to master the handling of advanced ophthalmic diagnostic tools.

Direct Path for Professionals (Lateral Entry)

We offer a Lateral Entry pathway for students who have already completed a Diploma in Optometry. This program recognizes your prior learning, allowing you to skip the foundational year and gain direct admission into the 2nd year of the B.Sc. degree, effectively upgrading your credentials and expanding your career horizons in just 3 years.

Admission Criteria

Lateral Entry (Direct 2nd Year)

  • Qualification: Passed Diploma in Optometry from a recognized board.
  • Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate in diploma (45% for SC/ST).
  • Admission: Eligible candidates get direct admission into the 2nd year.

Affiliation: Affiliated with IKG-PTU, Kapurthala and recognized by Punjab Government.
